We often think of bees as honey producers, but their most important role is pollination. Without bees, many of the fruits, vegetables, and wild plants we rely on simply couldn’t thrive.
Apple, pear, plum, cherry, and many other fruit trees depend on pollinators to produce healthy, abundant crops. Nearly one-third of the food we eat relies on pollination, making bees essential for both biodiversity and food security. Ireland is home to more than 100 species of wild bees, many of which are facing increasing pressure from habitat loss and climate change. (ibcp.ie)
